Réparothons (aka Restart Parties)

COVID-19 – All our repairs events are currently suspended

A Reparothon is a free community event, inspired by the Restart Party, where volunteers experienced in computer and electronics help you diagnose, and if possible repair, your defective or slow appliances to extend their life. In a spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing, you take an active part in the repair in a fun atmosphere.

Classic Réparothons

Events open to everyone offered in various locations: at Insertech, in cafés, organizations, community centres, businesses… Come with your defective device and register on the waiting list to meet a volunteer who will help you.

Youth Réparothons

By young people for young people! Insertech’s professional technicians train students to help their peers during a Reparothon in their community (high school, CEGEP, university). Our young people in integration are involved as mentors.

How does it work?

Get ready: make your backups, take the charger from your laptop or mobile device, collect error reports or screenshots…

When you arrive, go to the Registration table. Sign the disclaimer and answer a few questions to find out which repair table to go to.

We put your name on the waiting list, and call you as soon as a volunteer becomes available. Take advantage of this waiting time to see what’s happening at the repair tables, chat, meet people, have a snack or just relax!

You have about 30 minutes with your volunteer to diagnose and if possible repair your device. Then go back to the Registration table to say it’s over and give the result. We will send you a satisfaction survey by email, if you don’t mind.

Terms and conditions

Volunteers are happy to show you how to repair, but they are not necessarily professionals, even if they will have the support of Insertech technicians.

A Reparothon is an event organized by and for the community, to learn to repair oneself. Participating means that you are responsible for your own device.

By participating, you agree to the following conditions:

You must back up your data before bringing your device.
Only one device is allowed per person.
You must bring your charger / power cable.
We have no replacement parts, no phone or tablet screens .
Space is limited, so it’s first come, first served.
You must register within the first two hours.
Repair is not always possible.
You allow Insertech to take pictures of you during the event, and to use any pictures for its communications.
